Ron’s 1976 Super Beetle

Ron and his wife have done an incredible job on this 1976 Super Beetle. This is a very impressive garage build from the paint all the way to chrome on the engine. Ron is also promoting a VW event honoring two fallen police officers from Tampa. The event is being held at Buffalo Wing’s & Rings down in North Port, FL on Saturday, July 31st 2010. This is an air-cooled and water cooled event. Show your support!

Classic Camber

In this video, Joe Piacenza, owner of Classic Camber, gives us a small tour and explains to us what Classic Camber is all about. I’ve always seen Classic Camber at the shows and have always noticed their presence with in the VW community. Aside from the restorations, Classic Camber also works on water cooled VW’s. Joe explains to me that they take pride in being a small “green” business by restoring older cars and properly recycling other waste. Project Green Machine

This video is a prime example of serendipity. While wandering around Sarasota taking pictures, I just so happen to bump into Jaszy McAllister (who I’ve recently only met on line) of Modern hippie Mag. We officially introduced ourselves and began to talk. The conversation soon unveiled that there was going to be a near by press event featuring the Beach Boys and a 1969 electric powered VW Squareback. So completely random and so completely awesome! Lucky for me, I had both my still and video camera with me.

Forrest Shaw is the proud owner of this beautiful 1969 electric VW Squareback a.k.a the “Green Machine“. The goal of the car is to have a green delivery operation for Pastry Art Bakery & Cafe, Forrest’s downtown Sarasota hot spot, while promoting “green living” and “green business”. With the sponsored help of Pete Hanson, Braille Battery and The Hub this 69 Squareback will now live on as Sarasota’s first green car.

My Karmann Ghia, Part 1

This is part one of an on going series of me getting my 72 Ghia back in running condition. Be on the look out for more episodes in the coming weeks. The first thing I need is either a new gas tank or some one who knows a good place I can take my current tank to get it “boiled’. Basically, the tank sat for almost ten years with gas in it so I have a bad case of oil sludge. Also, I need my gas line checked, it has a clog some where.

Roger’s 70 Custom Beetle

Obviously, handcrafted from scratch, Roger has put quite the effort in to converting this 1970 Beetle chassis into a rolling promo can. This creation is the result of yet another VW Fanatic with a big idea. Roger says that the reactions he gets are just silly! I truly love seeing people take something so simple as a VW and converting it into something so unique like this. Keep up the good work Roger!

Chris’s 65 Bug

I’m really excited that I finally got an interview with Chris. He has hosted some pretty awesome VW shows up in Tarpon Springs where you can find some of the best air-cooled rides in town as well as some of the best authentic Greek food Florida has to offer. Chris’s 65 Bug is quite the looker with chrome wheels and two tone platinum and white paint job, it’s about as close to perfection as you can get. I look forward to attending many more of Chris’s VW events!
